JOHOR BARU: Two hotels were robbed in the wee hours of Thursday by three men armed with parang.

In the first incident, the robbers held up a technician from Petaling Jaya, Selangor and his friend at a hotel on Jalan Lumba Kuda.

After robbing them of money, mobile phones, laptops, cameras and other valuables, the robbers rounded up the hotel staff and took the hotel's collection.

They also robbed the hotel staff of their valuables.

Two of the robbers drove off in a car that had a Singapore registration plate number while their accomplice fled with the technician's Proton Gen 2.

About 10 minutes later, two men who were well-dressed entered another hotel on Jalan Bukit Meldrum on the pretext of booking a room.

While they were being attended to, their accomplice walked in, with three parang.

It is believed that the three robbers were the same ones who had committed the first robbery.

They rounded up the six staff, including the security guards.

One of the robbers ransacked the drawers and took the hotel's collection of RM2,550.

They also robbed the staff of their cash, mobile phones and belongings.

The robbers escaped in a car.

It is learnt that another hotel on Jalan Tebrau here was robbed last Friday.

It is believed that the robbers were remaining members of a gang that police had crippled. - Source
