Kenderaan - Kuala Lumpur (Damansara) MEI

SHAH ALAM: Two Indonesian robbers were shot dead when they attacked police with parang shortly after they hijacked a lorry laden with copper wire worth RM300,000.

Finding themselves cornered at a dead-end of a road, they charged at the police with parang.

A local, believed to be their accomplice, was arrested.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Mazlan Mansor said the suspects were believed to be connected to a syndicate specialising in lorry hijackings and that police have launched a hunt for five others.
Nabbed: A local man believed to have assisted the robbers was arrested after police chased the robbers down a dead alley.

In the incident yesterday, the lorry laden with the wire left a factory in Section 27 at about 10.30am. While on its way to Kota Damansara, the vehicle was “sandwiched” by a lorry and two cars.

The lorry driver, aged 55, fled on seeing eight men getting down from the three vehicles. However his son, aged 22, was held by the hijackers and later released near a highway in USJ, Subang Jaya.

The driver lodged a report and a police team found the lorry abandoned in Section 36, near Kampung Jawa, at about 12.30pm.

While the police, who came in an unmarked car, were examining the lorry, three of the robbers returned in a car and tried to remove the cargo.

However, on seeing the police, the suspects jumped back into their car and tried to run down the officers.

SAC Mazlan said a chase ensued and police opened fire when they were set upon by the robbers, killing two. - Source
